Looking ahead to 2025
With over 1 billion in capital raised, it's time to accelerate
The last time I wrote a newsletter was June. That was because my business exploded (in a good way) and I found myself writing solely for clients and myself.
I love writing and storytelling. But I’ve found it most rewarding when I see how the founders I work with are able to use it or when I just use it to think and explore for myself.
One of the biggest changes over the past 6 months is that I could no longer do the work alone. There were too many founders who wanted to work together and for many of the clients I’ve worked with for years, the demands have grown.
A handful of my clients will be unicorns in the coming 6-12 months with their current growth rates and trajectory. As they’ve grown, the work I do also grows. Storytelling, speaking, and communication becomes more important the further a company matures and grows.
I’ve found this work to be some of the most intellectually fulfilling and stimulating of my career.
So last year I brought on a partner and launched Sorenborn. It’s an ode to Ted Sorensen who wrote for JFK and was his advisor during JFK’s political career.
My partner, Justin Mikolay, served on nuclear submarines until General David Petraeus poached him to become his speechwriter. Justin would then do the same work for General Jim Mattis both while he was running the wars in the Middle East and also as Secretary of Defense. He also served as head of comms for Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta.
While I personally find that incredible, many of our clients find this next part the most interesting. Justin was a key member of Palantir as they grew from a few hundred to thousands. He ran business development and the internal and external comms. He even had the title of evangelist so he could move between those roles as needed.
It’s been incredible working with him and seeing his output for our clients.
As I look ahead this year, my primary focus continues to be on the founders we work with. They are building some of the most important companies in the world and my vision has always been to help the greatest founders deliver on that potential.
I would bet alot of money that we will have 5 unicorns in our portfolio (all who we started with when they were at seed) and those are the type of founders I’m always looking for to help.
In 3 years, our clients have now passed $1,000,000,000 in capital raised. Yes that’s a billion. I thought it would take 5 years and we did it in 3.
We’ve seen the success and we’re doubling down on it.
Also I got a dog.
A siberian husky named Pushkin. He’s amazing.
Here’s to an incredible 2025.
Feel free to reach out if you think I can help you or someone you know.

P.S. At Sorenborn we work with founders and CEOs of series A-IPO tech companies to crystalize and deploy their massive vision through storytelling and communication to build the world’s most valuable companies.
We help with how it translates to fundraising, recruiting, culture, and revenue growth.
